Background: Genetic testing for breast cancer susceptibility is widely used, but for many genes, evidence of an association with breast cancer is weak, underlying risk estimates are imprecise, and reliable subtype-specific risk estimates are lacking.

Methods: We used a panel of 34 putative susceptibility genes to perform sequencing on samples from 60,466 women with breast cancer and 53,461 controls. In separate analyses for protein-truncating variants and rare missense variants in these genes, we estimated odds ratios for breast cancer overall and tumor subtypes.

Background: Artemisinin derivatives are used in antimalarial drug combination therapy. Artemisinin and piperaquine have recently been proven to be prospective candidates for combination therapy in the treatment of uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum malaria.

Objective: The goal of this study was to evaluate the relative bioavailability and to characterize the pharmacokinetic properties of a new micronized powder formulation of artemisinin against the previous standard Vietnamese formulation when administered as a single oral dose or in combination with piperaquine.

Ku is a heterodimer composed of p70 and p80, and is the regulatory subunit of DNA-dependent protein kinase. As a multifunctional DNA-binding protein complex, Ku plays important roles in DNA damage repair through non-homologous end joining and in V(D)J recombination. In addition, Ku has also been implicated in various biological functions including growth control, cell proliferation, cell cycle, chromosome maintenance, transcriptional regulation, apoptosis, and viral infection.
