Timeline and Incidence of Infectious Complications in Older Transplant Recipients During the First Year Post-Transplantation.

The number of older adults undergoing organ transplantation, and waiting lists are increasing. The epidemiological data on infections in older transplant patients are scarce. The objective of the study was to investigate the incidence and distribution of infectious complications in older patients according to post-transplant periods.

Differentiating multiple sclerosis with predominant spinal cord and optic nerve involvement from other autoimmune demyelinating diseases using B cell immunophenotyping and gene expression profiling.

Objective: Multiple sclerosis (MS) may present with predominant involvement of the spinal cord and optic nerve (MS/w-SCON) and mimic other autoimmune inflammatory demyelinating disorders (AIDD) such as neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), and relapsing inflammatory optic neuritis (RION). Thus, biomarkers are required for effective differential diagnosis of AIDD.

Methods: Patients with MS/w-SCON (n = 20), MS without involvement of SCON (MS/wo-SCON) (n = 22), NMOSD (n = 16), RION (n = 15) and healthy individuals (n = 21) were included.

Determination of HLA Tissue Type According to the Etiology of Patients with Chronic Renal Failure.

Objective: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a prominent public health concern, is defined as functional and structural damage to the kidneys. This study aims to investigate the association between human leukocyte antigen (HLA) alleles individuals with CKD and the different etiological subgroups of diesease.

Methods: Genomic DNA was obtained from peripheral blood samples of 1,079 patients with retrospective CKD and 1,111 healthy control individuals.

Effects of immune modulatory treatment on language and psychiatric profile in patients with electrical status epilepticus in sleep (ESES).

Electrical status epilepticus in sleep (ESES) is an electrographic pattern associated with cognitive impairment. Our study aimed to prospectively evaluate the psychiatric findings and language skills in patients diagnosed with ESES and to determine the immune modulatory treatment-responsive subgroups. We assessed the patients for psychiatric features and language skills at the baseline and 12 months after.

Thin film of sensing unit, 2,3,9,10,16,17-hexakis(3-dietylaminophenoxy)-23-etynylphenyl-(2-ferrocenyl-o-carborane)phthalocyaninato zinc(II) (ZnPc), have been deposited by spray pyrolysis technique on the quartz crystal surface with a fundamental resonance frequency of 10 MHz. The surface morphology of the film has been studied using the contact mode atomic force microscope (AFM) technique and the average surface roughness was determined to be 36.4 nm.
