Lymphocytic thyroiditis in beagle dogs in a breeding colony: histological findings.

During the 18-year (1974-1991) period the lymphocytic thyroiditis was found in 8% of 2238 animals from a Beagle dog breeding colony (8.5% of 1079 males and 7.6% of 1159 females).

[Human sparganosis].

Endemic subcutaneous sparganosis was described in right pectoral region of a 29-year-old male Vietnamese. It was caused by 2nd larval stadium (plerocercoid, sparganum) of a tapeworm Spirometra mansoni. Lesion was discovered during the patient's 2nd month in this country, surgery was made 7 months later.

Comparability of results of postnatal and long-term tests for carcinogenicity.

A method of testing postnatal carcinogenicity in rats was elaborated. The substances to be tested were administered from the 1st day after birth to the 5th, 10th and 20th days of age. The subsequent supply of a substance in diet from weaning (28th day of age) up to the end of the first year of survival was an optimal combination.
