Background: Extracutaneous involvement is rare in the classical form of Kaposi sarcoma (KS).
Observation: We report a case of bone involvement revealed by bone pain. Magnetic resonance (MR) images demonstrated the local invasion of bone from cutaneous lesions.
The burden of low back pain disability has increased steadily over the last few decades in western countries. The high social and economic cost of low back pain is related to the minority of individuals who lose more than six months from work. Although the risk factors for low back pain have been well delineated, methodologic obstacles have hindered the collection of information on factors associated with a chronic course.

Methods: One thousand great toes (202 of PsA, 44 of cutaneous psoriasis, 274 of low back pain patients, 296 of rheumatoid arthritis, 136 of spondyloarthropathy, and 48 of connective tissue diseases) were studied for osteoperiostitis of the distal phalanx of the great toe (slight, moderate, or severe), destructive joint lesions of the feet, nail dystrophy, fungal infection, and HLA-B type (patients with PsA).
Results: Osteoperiostitis was observed in 92 great toes.

Tertiary hyperparathyroidism developed after a 30-year treatment of low phosphorus osteomalacia with phosphorus supplementation. Parathormone stimulation by exogenous phosphorus would result from sequestration of calcium leading to low plasma levels of both ionized and total calcium. In this case, decreased calcium level was favoured by renal failure.

In a recent study, they demonstrated that osteoperiostitis of the distal phalanx of the great toe was significantly more frequent in patients with psoriatic arthritis than in other groups (cutaneous psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, spondylarthropathy, connective tissue diseases, and control subjects), suggesting that the existence of osteoperiostitis of the distal phalanx of the great toe is valuable for the diagnosis of psoriatic arthropathy.
