Background: Lipedema is a chronic fat disorder characterized by disproportionate fat deposition in the lower limbs, leading to pain, mobility issues and reduced health related quality of life (HRQoL).There is growing evidence that liposuction of the excess fat not only reduces soft tissue pain but also improves HRQoL. The published data, however, remain limited, and there are no studies of liposuction in the UK lipedema population.

The pursuit of novel therapeutics is a complex and resource-intensive endeavor marked by significant challenges, including high costs and low success rates. In response, drug repositioning strategies leverage existing FDA-approved compounds to predict their efficacy across diverse diseases. Peptidyl arginine deiminase 4 (PAD4) plays a pivotal role in protein citrullination, a process implicated in the autoimmune pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

However, factors such as microgravity, radiation exposure, temperature, humidity, strong vibrations, space debris, and other issues encountered, the drug product undergo instability This instability combined with physiological changes will affect the shelf life and diminish the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profile of the drug product. Consequently, the physicochemical changes will produce a toxic degradation product and a lesser potency dosage form which may result in reduced or no therapeutic action, so the astronaut consumes an additional dose to remain healthy.

We assessed the safety and efficacy of combined chemotherapy with MAPK pathway inhibition in 10 patients with refractory systemic disease and/or LCH-associated neurodegeneration. Overall response rate was 9/10 (90%) for the entire cohort: 5/5 (100%) for patients with systemic disease and 6/7 (86%) for patients with central nervous system disease.
