Objectives: TLPL/AY/03/2008 is a polyherbal formulation intended for treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lumbago, spondylitis etc., Acute and repeated dose 90-days studies were conducted to evaluate the safety profile of TLPL/AY/03/2008 in rats.

Materials And Methods: In acute study, TLPL/AY/03/2008 was orally administered to Sprague Dawley rats at 2000 mg/kg.

A high-performance liquid chromatography method was developed and validated for the simultaneous quantitation of two major rotenoids, boeravinone E and boeravinone B, in Boerhaavia diffusa extract and its formulation. Chromatographic separation was carried out on an Inertsil ODS-3 column by using gradient mobile phase containing 0.1% v/v orthophosphoric acid in water and acetonitrile.

A rapid and cost-effective method for the extraction of rotenoids in Boerhaavia diffusa L., based on the use of microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), is proposed. The conventional reflux, soxhlet, and maceration extraction methods were also conducted to validate the reliability of the new method.
