Asynchronous DNA Replication of Biallelically Expressed Genes in Human Peripheral Blood Lymphocytes as a Prognostic Sign of Cancer.

Unlabelled: was to identify and quantify lymphocytes with asynchronous replication of the and genes in cancer patients versus controls and to assess the diagnostic capabilities of this approach.

Materials And Methods: The study was carried out with peripheral blood lymphocytes probed for the and genes using the interphase fluorescence hybridization (FISH) method (Vysis, USA and Kreatech, The Netherlands). The control group included 70 people: clinically healthy donors and patients with non-oncological diseases such as gastritis, pancreatitis, chronic calculous cholecystitis, bronchial asthma, peptic ulcer disease, inguinal hernia, arthrosis, myoma, hepatitis, epilepsy, chronic prostatitis, chronic tonsillitis, and rectal adenoma.

[The prevalence of ischemic heart disease and the characteristics of sudden cardiac death in miners of the Donets Basin coal mines].

Prevalence of ischemic heart disease (IHD) and of general population risk factors was studied on the basis of results of the epidemiological survey among miners (n = 6500) working in coal mines of Donbass with different mining and geological conditions and mining and technical characteristics. In the above series, there prevailed exertional angina and an arrhythmia form of IHD in which the pain syndrome was absent or was of atypical character. Recordable in the miners was an age-associated increase in IHD prevalence.

[A comparative analysis of different approaches to identifying cardiovascular diseases in coal miners during medical selection].

An expert evaluation of identifiability of cardiovascular diseases was carried out together with a clinical and functional examination of certain groups of miners of basic underground occupations at different ages and lengths of service, that showed a high incidence of cardiovascular diseases along with a low informative value of methodical approaches, indices and criteria used for their diagnosis in conducting preliminary and periodic health check-ups. To improve the quality of diagnosis of diseases of the circulatory system it is necessary that standardized methods of investigation should be employed together with consistent indices of high informative value as well as a purposive training of physicians.

[Medical and social problems related to cardiovascular diseases among the miners of the Donbass coal mines].

Occurrence and course of cardiovascular diseases in miners of Donbass is due to social and occupational factors that should be considered in early diagnosis and prophylaxis. Sudden coronary death of miners at the workplace or after leaving the mine is associated with triggering of occupational factors and now is legally appreciated as an occupational accident.

[Spirometry and bicycle ergometry in the evaluation of work capacity of coal miners with ischemic heart disease].

The article deals with results obtained in examination covering miners who faced myocardial infarction and assessing their performance. Spirometry and bicycle ergometry appeared to detect changes in aerobic threshold even in the cases when the effort tolerance is not compromised. The materials obtained bring to a conclusion that the miners after myocardial infarction include subjects with lower functional resources and a higher share of those with reserved aerobic capacity.
