Effects of laminarin zwitterionic carboxylate and sulfonate on the intestinal barrier function and gut microbiota.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) has become a global chronic disease that keeps increasing. This study was to explore the treatment effectiveness of two functional zwitterionic laminarins, zwitterionic sulfonate (LZS) and zwitterionic carboxylate (LZC), in dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) induced mouse model. FT-IR and NMR techniques were used to characterize the aforementioned functional zwitterion.

Eosinophilic Granuloma of the Mandible.

Eosinophilic granuloma (EG) is a rare histiocytic disorder resulting from clonal proliferation of Langerhans cells. Eosinophilic granuloma, the most benign of the three entities of Langerhans cell histiocytosis, may be multiple or solitary. This lesion can affect any bones but commonly involves the mandible when the jaws are affected.

Following fertilization in mammals, the gametes are reprogrammed to create a totipotent zygote, a process that involves de novo establishment of chromatin domains. A major feature occurring during preimplantation development is the dramatic remodelling of constitutive heterochromatin, although the functional relevance of this is unknown. Here, we show that heterochromatin establishment relies on the stepwise expression and regulated activity of SUV39H enzymes.

A non-enzymatic electrochemical sensor based on ZrO: Cu(I) nanosphere modified carbon paste electrode for electro-catalytic oxidative detection of glucose in raw Citrus aurantium var. sinensis.

In this work, a sensitive and stable ZrO-Cu(I) nanosphere mesoporous material modified non-enzymatic glucose sensor has been developed through simple, low cost chemistry. ZrO-Cu(I) material was obtained by controlled co-precipitation method under ultra dilution conditions. Cyclic voltammetric tests were performed in order to evaluate the electrocatalytic activity ZrO-Cu(I) modified electrode.

Utilization of hepatitis B core antibody positive grafts in living donor liver transplantation.

Background: Utilization of liver grafts from hepatitis B core antibody (anti-HBc) positive donors carries the risk of reactivation of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in recipients because of post-transplant immunosuppressive therapy.

Methods: This was a retrospective study of patients who had received liver grafts from anti-HBc positive live donors between 2006 and 2016 at our institute.
