Introduction: Geospatial temporal data derived from smartphones traditionally used for purposes of navigation may offer valuable information for public health surveillance and locational hot spotting. Our objective was to develop a web-based application, called Covidseeker, that captures continuous fine-grained geospatial temporal data from smartphones and leverages these data to study transmission patterns of COVID-19.

Methods: This report describes the development of Covidseeker and the process by which it utilizes geospatial temporal data from smartphones and processes it into a usable format to study geospatial temporal patterns of COVID-19.

Background & Objectives: Scrub typhus has a wide spectrum of clinical presentations from acute febrile illness to sepsis with multi-organ failure with poor prognosis. The aim was to study the clinical presentation of scrub typhus and application of SOFA and qSOFA scores of sepsis-3 criteria to determine sepsis and consequent in-hospital outcomes.

Methods: A prospective study was carried out in adults (≥18 years), with scrub typhus diagnosed by IgM ELISA.

Background: Rapid growth in Smartphone use among children affords potential opportunities to target health behaviors such as dietary habits; however, few mobile health applications are specifically designed with these individuals in mind. This brief report describes our step-by-step approach towards developing a mobile health application for targeting nutrition behaviors among children.

Methods: Descriptions of the 10 most popular paid and 10 most popular free Smartphone applications available on the Apple iTunes store for ages 4 and up as of March 2012 were qualitatively analyzed.

N-(4-amino-2-nitro-toluinyl) glycyl hydrazide and N-(biphenyl) glycyl hydrazide partially inhibited the growth of M smegmatis at 20 micrograms/ml and showed a total inhibition at 100 micrograms/ml. Replacement by a nitro or halogen group lowered the activity.
