Extemporary (EXT) analysis is unavoidable in establishing the tumor diagnosis, operability and the extent of the operation. Alternative approach is cytologic analisis which, because of its simple methodology, provides results even faster. In this paper, the results of cytologic imprints (CI) and EXT finding were compared with definite histopathologic diagnosis (HDP) to determine the value of both methods.

Male patient, aged 28, in good health, suddenly developed symptoms and signs of severe infective syndrome and intensive pain in the axillary region. Parenteral antibiotic, substitutional and supportive therapy was conducted along with the radical surgical excision of the necrotizing tissue.

The tumor localized in the region of the left ventricle and connected to the visceral wall of the pericardium was diagnosed in a 38-year old male. Histological, histochemical and immunochemical findings confirmed the diagnosis of the liposarcoma of the pericardium.

On admission the patient complained of a dyspnoea, and the physical examination of the thorax revealed the absence of breathing sound on the left side. A chest radiography and CT scan had shown the presence of the stomach in the left hemithorax.
