Lung Assessment with Point-of-Care Ultrasound in Respiratory Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19): A Prospective Cohort Study.

Lung ultrasound (LUS) has shown promising diagnostic potential in different pulmonary conditions. We evaluated the diagnostic accuracy of LUS for pulmonary COVID-19. In this prospective cohort study at a Swiss tertiary care center, patients hospitalized with suspected COVID-19 were scanned using a 12-zone protocol.

Prevalence and practice of opioid prescription at a Swiss emergency department: 2013-2017.

Aims Of The Study: Addiction associated with prescription opioids is increasing worldwide, including Switzerland. We aimed (1) to determine whether the prevalence and incidence of opioid therapy at an emergency department (ED) in Switzerland has changed over five years and (2) to characterise consultations with incident opioid prescription.

Methods: In this retrospective chart review, pre-existing opioid treatment and new prescriptions at the ED of Bern University Hospital “Inselspital”, Switzerland, between 2013 and 2017 were identified from the ED documentation system.

Introduction: First aid treatment for thermal injuries with cold water removes heat and decreases inflammation. However, perfusion in the ischemic zone surrounding the coagulated core can be compromised by cold-induced vasoconstriction and favor burn progression. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of local warming on burn progression in the rat comb burn model.
