Objective: Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (myositis, IIMs) are rare, systemic autoimmune disorders that lead to muscle inflammation, weakness, and extra-muscular manifestations, with a strong genetic component influencing disease development and progression. Previous genome-wide association studies identified loci associated with IIMs. In this study, we imputed data from two prior genome-wide myositis studies and analyzed the largest myositis dataset to date to identify novel risk loci and susceptibility genes associated with IIMs and its clinical subtypes.

The association between psoriasis and non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) remains inconsistent despite biologic plausibility. Immunosuppressive effects of systemic psoriasis treatments have also been hypothesized to contribute to the development of NMSC as well. However, data assessing the risk of NMSC associated with immunomodulatory psoriasis medications, particularly newer biologic therapies, are limited.

A large number of people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) also suffer from major depressive disorder (MDD), leading to underdiagnosis due to overlapping symptoms. Polysomnography has been considered to identify MDD. However, limited access to sleep clinics makes this challenging.

Background: Many studies have characterized racial differences in cancer outcomes, demonstrating that black and Hispanic patients have lower cancer-specific survival compared to white patients. However, to our knowledge, a gap in the literature exists regarding racial, socioeconomic, age, and sex-related differences in survival improvement in cancer.

Methods: We perform a population-based cohort study of 1,875,281 patients with eight common cancer sites from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database.

Alternative polyadenylation (APA) is a major mechanism of post-transcriptional regulation that affects mRNA stability, localization and translation efficiency. Previous pan-cancer studies have revealed that APA is frequently disrupted in cancer and is associated with patient outcomes. Yet, little is known about cancer type-specific APA alterations.
