Sexual Harassment in Academic Anesthesiology: A Survey of Prevalence, Sources, Impact, and Recommendations.

Background: A report by the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC) showed that academic anesthesiology has the highest prevalence of sexual harassment among specialties for both men and women. We aimed to explore the prevalence, sources, and impact of sexual harassment on anesthesiologists in academic centers in the United States and Canada. We also sought recommendations for its mitigation.

Effectively targeting intracellular pathways in cancers requires a system that specifically delivers to tumors and internalizes into cancer cells. To achieve this goal, we developed intracellular-delivering (ID) Salmonella with controllable expression of flhDC, to regulate flagella production and cell invasion. We hypothesized that controlling flhDC would overcome the poor colonization seen in prior clinical trials.

Alcohol-based fuels have shown high compatibility with spark-ignition (SI) engines, which require improvements in fuel efficiency and emissions reduction to meet modern environmental standards. While extensive research has been conducted on ethanol and other lower-order alcohols, there has been comparatively limited investigation into higher-order alcohols like butanol and pentanol as fuel alternatives. Previous studies on pentanol-gasoline blends in SI engines have demonstrated improved engine performance and reduced emissions.

Lower Risk of Death and Kidney Failure Associated with Higher Target (vs. Below-Target) Doses of RAS Inhibitors in Octogenarians with HFrEF.

Background: Renin-angiotensin system inhibitors (RASIs) at higher target doses reduce the risk of death in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Less is known about their effectiveness in octogenarians, the examination of which was the objective of this study.

Methods: Of 32,964 Veterans ≥80 years with HFrEF (ejection fraction ≤40%) receiving RASIs, 6655 received target-dose.
