Article Synopsis
  • The study explores the effectiveness of neural networks in predicting treatment outcomes for diabetic neovascular glaucoma (NVG), focusing on intraocular pressure, inflammation, and blood circulation indicators.
  • The research involves a cohort of 127 NVG patients and a control group, using specific preoperative indices to analyze the impact on treatment success after transscleral cyclophotocoagulation (TSC CPC).
  • The neural network model developed highlighted the significance of the systemic inflammation response index (SIRI), rheographic coefficient (RQ), and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) in predicting treatment efficacy, demonstrating high sensitivity but lower specificity.

In order to elaborate an epidurographic technique, the water-soluble contrast substance (verografin), oil solution of iodine, iodolipol and air were used in experimental studies on animals and in cadavers. The studies demonstrated that oil and gaslike contrast substances penetrate into the vein and create a threat of embolia formation. For epidurography the most acceptable are water-soluble contrast substances.
