Breast cancer with unpredictable metastatic recurrence is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality. Early cancer detection and optimized therapy are the principal determining factors for increased survival rate. Worldwide, researchers and clinicians are in search of efficient strategies for the timely management of cancer progression.

A Study on Insulin Levels and the Expression of in Streptozotocin (STZ) Induced Diabetic Rats Treated with Mustard Oil Diet.

The study was undertaken to evaluate the therapeutic effect of mustard oil incorporated diet in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced type 1 diabetic rats. Dietary composition has shown to play a significant role in improving insulin sensitivity. Various authors have reported the hypoglycemic effect of mustard oil in experimentally induced diabetic rats.

Prevalence of endoparasites in captive snakes of Kerala, India.

The objective of the study was to evaluate the status of parasitic infections in captive snakes of Kerala. Faecal samples were collected from captive snakes of State Museums and Zoos of Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram. Parasites were screened by direct smear, sedimentation, simple floatation and Shaether’s sugar floatation method.

Nevirapine-related adverse events among children switched from efavirenz to nevirapine as compared to children who were started on nevirapine-based antiretroviral therapy directly.

In this retrospective study, incidence of nevirapine (NVP) toxicity in children who were switched from efavirenz (EFV) to NVP (treatment experienced [TE] group) was compared with that of children who had started NVP-based antiretroviral therapy directly (treatment naïve [TN] group). This study also identified risk factors associated with development of NVP toxicity in children. The incidence and risk of developing NVP toxicities were significantly higher in TE when compared to TN group.

Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome with subacute sclerosing panencephalitis.

A 7-year-old boy with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, receiving antiretroviral drugs for 2 years, presented with a recent onset of myoclonic jerks and cognitive deterioration. On examination, he manifested myoclonic jerks once every 10-15 seconds. His electroencephalogram indicated periodic complexes, and his cerebrospinal fluid tested positive for measles antibodies.
