The combined treatment with valdoxan and amitriptyline has been suggested as one of the possible variants to overcome treatment resistance in somatized depression. A study design was based on the rhythmological model of depression which clinically characterized by altered sleep-awakeness cycles. According to this notion, 36 patients were divided into two groups by the presence (20 patients) or absence (16 patients) of severe sleep disorders.

[Hypochondriac schizophrenia in the involutional period].

A total of 101 patients suffering from slowly progressive schizophrenia with hypochondriac symptomatology and a manifestation or a relapse of the disease in the involutional age have been studied. Three variants of the disease course have been identified. The authors have considered the significance of sex, premorbid peculiarities of the personality, aggravated heredity, as well as the rate and character of exogenic manifestations in the patient's history as possible pathogenetic factors of a late manifestation (recurrence) of the disease.

Using a number of electrophysiological (EEG, REG, echoventriculometry and audiometry) and biochemical (thromboelastography and determination of blood lipids) methods the authors examined comprehensively 95 men aged 56-70 years who had sustained a closed craniocerebral injury including blast contusion during the Great Patriotic War. The most informative signs were identified which may be used as additional criteria of the severity of traumatic and vascular changes of the brain in a long-term period of a war-related closed craniocerebral injury both for the purpose of therapy and expert medical evaluation of the working capacity.
