Quantitative roentgenologic criteria of lung hypertension are compared with pressure values from intracardiac catheters for 149 patients with mitral disorder. For chronic rheumatic mitral disorders the nature of the valve lesion cannot be determined from the lung vessel pattern. It was found that quantitative criteria facilitate the diagnosis of lung hypertension in 91% of the cases.

Under analysis were clinical data and roentgencardiometric parameters in 181 patients with mitral diseases. The most informative roentgencardiometric parameters were established and a quantitative diagnostic algorithm was created with the help of a mathematical method for the choice of the operative procedure. The correct choice was made in 79% of the cases.
