Comparison of scenarios in the trajectory of body mass index among adolescents monitored in primary health care: the VigiNUTRI Brazil study.

We compared the BMI-for-age (BMI/A) trajectory of Brazilian adolescents monitored in the primary health care (PHC) setting based on a simulated scenario. We used a real-life cohort of adolescents monitored by the Food and Nutrition Surveillance System (Sisvan) between 2008 and 2018. The LMS method was employed to estimate the simulated BMI/A evolution curve, assuming that the adolescents maintained the conditions observed during their first assessment (simulation curve).

Consensus-Based Guidelines for Best Practices in the Selection and Use of Examination Gloves in Healthcare Settings.

Background/objectives: Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) present significant challenges in modern healthcare, leading to increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Examination gloves play a critical role in infection prevention by serving as a barrier to reduce the risk of cross-contamination between healthcare workers and patients. This manuscript aims to provide consensus-based guidelines for the optimal selection, use, and disposal of examination gloves in healthcare settings, addressing both infection prevention and environmental sustainability.

Mitochondrial DNA variants and their impact on epigenetic and biological aging in young adulthood.

The pace of biological aging varies between people independently of chronological age and mitochondria dysfunction is a key hallmark of biological aging. We hypothesized that higher functional impact (FI) score of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) variants might contribute to premature aging and tested the relationships between a novel FI score of mtDNA variants and epigenetic and biological aging in young adulthood. Abortion-related complications in Brazil: results from the World Health Organization Multi-country Survey on Abortion (MCS-A).

This study aimed to describe the severity of abortion-related complications, factors associated with complications, the types of management and the experience of care in Brazil. A cross-sectional study in twenty hospitals (10 in Federal District, 3 in Rondônia and 7 in Maranhão). For 3 months, all women treated for abortion/miscarriage had their data collected.

Breastfeeding Practices and Food Consumption of Socially Vulnerable Children.

Promoting child well-being and development requires a multidimensional approach, including the right to adequate food practices. Socially vulnerable children are more exposed to adverse experiences, such as inadequate food consumption due to poverty. In this context, home-visiting programs are an important strategy for nutritional and health care education to provide relevant guidelines.
