Persistence of anemia in patients with Celiac disease despite a gluten free diet: a retrospective study.

Background: The main treatment for Celiac Disease (CD) is the gluten-free diet (GFD). However, in some CD patients, iron deficiency anemia can be persistent despite a GFD.

Aim: In this study, we aim to evaluate the prevalence of anemia in both adults and children with CD at the diagnosis and during the GFD.

Development and assessment of an intestinal tri-cellular model to investigate the pro/anti-inflammatory potential of digested foods.

Introduction: Immunonutrition, defined as the potential of foods, nutrients and dietary patterns to modulate the immune system activity, has been proposed as a strategy to enhance the immune response in both metabolic and immune-mediated diseases. However, the anti-/pro-inflammatory role of foods and diets is far to be fully ascertained, and thus there is a continued needed for appropriate in vitro cell-culture models to investigate the role of foods in modulating cell-mediated inflammatory processes. This study aims to develop and test an in vitro tri-culture model, simulating the complexity of the intestinal tract and its multiple cell interactions.

[Cognitive function groups in older people and risk factors].

Background: Risk stratification for cognitive impairment in communities originated from autopsies in cognitively healthy individuals. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th edition (DSM-5) incorporates subjective and objective cognitive function (CF) measures to explore neurocognitive disorders (NCD). It can be applied in communities to explore the factors that may influence positively or negatively.

Outcomes from a Zoonotic Disease Prioritization workshop using One Health approach in Mozambique, 2018 to 2023.

Introduction: Around 75% of (re)emerging infections are of zoonotic origins. The risk of zoonotic transmission in Mozambique is high because approximately 81% of the country's labor force is involved with agriculture, which represents a vulnerability for more frequent human-animal interaction and risk of spillover events. A One Health Zoonotic Disease Prioritization (OHZDP) workshop was conducted in Mozambique to facilitate coordination and collaboration within and across sectors to prevent, detect, and respond to zoonotic disease threats.

Background: Emerging zoonotic diseases are an increasing threat to public health. There is little data on the seroprevalence of zoonotic diseases among pastoralists in the country. We aim to carry out a cross-sectional study on the prevalence of major zoonotic diseases among pastoral communities in the Caia and Búzi districts.
