Introduction: Recent advances in image-guided brachytherapy have allowed for treatment volume reduction in the treatment of prostate cancer, with the aim to optimize disease control and reduce toxicities. This systematic review reports on the efficacy and safety of focal brachytherapy for treatment of patients with localized prostate cancer.
Methods: Medline, Embase, Web of Science and Cochrane were searched from inception to July 2023.
The pulmonary microbiome has emerged as a significant factor in respiratory health and diseases. Despite the sterile conditions maintained during lung perfusion (EVLP), the use of antibiotics in the perfuse liquid can lead to dynamic changes in the lung microbiome. Here, we present the design of a study that aims to investigate the hypothesis that EVLP alters the lung microbiome and induces tissue inflammation.

Its elevation could reflect multiple underlying pathophysiological processes beyond prerenal injury but also warrants nuanced interpretation due to its complex interplay with various factors, underscoring the importance of investigating its effects on mortality and acute kidney injury in this population.
Methods: We analized a retrospective and longitudinal cohort of patients admitted to a single center in Mexico City for patients with severe COVID-19.
Co-spray dried inhalable powder formulations of fasudil monohydrochloride salt (FMCS) and inhalable lung surfactant-based nanocarriers composed of synthetic phospholipids, zwitterionic DPPC (1,2-palmitoyl--glycero-3-phosphocholine) and anionic DPPG (1,2-dipalmitoyl--glycero-3-[phosphor-rac-1-glycerol]) sodium salt, were designed and optimized using organic solution advanced spray drying. FMCS can potentially be used for the treatment of various complex pulmonary diseases with this current work focusing on pulmonary arterial hypertension. Comprehensive physicochemical characterization, electron and optical microscopy imaging, thermal analysis, molecular fingerprinting spectroscopy, in vitro aerosol dispersion performance with human dry powder inhaler (DPI) devices, in vitro membrane permeation and drug release, and in vitro human cellular studies were conducted.
