Purpose: Bacterial isolation is associated with worse outcomes after lung transplantation (LTx), and successful bacterial eradication is shown to improve long-term survival and pulmonary function. Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT) may be an effective therapeutic modality for bacterial eradication post-LTx.

A series of laboratory experiments are conducted to simulate the acidification and subsequent recovery of a sand aquifer exploited by in situ recovery (ISR) mining. A sulfuric acid solution (pH 2) is first injected into a column packed with sand from the Zoovch Ovoo uranium roll front deposit (Mongolia). Solutions representative of local groundwater or enriched in cations (Na, Mg) are then circulated through the column to simulate the inflow of aquifer water.

Introduction: To systematically review the effect of probiotics on oral health during treatment with fixed orthodontic appliances.

Methods: PubMed, Embase and the Cochrane Library were searched up to August 2022 using broad MeSH terms and keywords. Randomized clinical trials comparing a probiotic with a control/no treatment; at least 10 patients/group undergoing fixed orthodontic therapy; and reporting at least one oral health-related parameter were included.
