Mitochondria, the cellular powerhouses, are pivotal to neuronal function and health, particularly through their role in regulating synaptic structure and function. Spine reprogramming, which underlies synapse development, depends heavily on mitochondrial dynamics-such as biogenesis, fission, fusion, and mitophagy as well as functions including ATP production, calcium (Ca) regulation, and retrograde signaling. Mitochondria supply the energy necessary for assisting synapse development and plasticity, while also regulating intracellular Ca homeostasis to prevent excitotoxicity and support synaptic neurotransmission.

Nuclear protein transcription factors (TFs) regulate all biological processes in plants and are necessary for gene regulation. The transcription of genes during plant growth and development and their response to environmental cues are regulated by TF binding to specific promoter regions in the genomic DNA. Methods: In this prospective case-control study, we enrolled 29 women with prior GDM, and divided them into three groups (normoglycemic, prediabetic, and diabetic) based on their glycaemic status in the postpartum period; and a group of 13 participants as controls who had normoglycemia during pregnancy. Participants underwent MR examination including an axial multi-echo DIXON-based sequence and an axial-oblique T1 mapping sequence.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a global burden to the healthcare system with no viable treatment options till date. Rodents and primates have been extensively used as models for understanding AD pathogenesis and identifying therapeutic targets.
