Purpose: The aim of the study was to determine preoperative patient- and fracture-related risk factors for estimating the risk of fracture sequelae after surgically treated proximal humerus fractures (PHF) using locking plate osteosynthesis. The purpose was to develop a fracture sequelae risk score as an additional tool to facilitate the treatment strategy for PHF.
Methods: All patients with PHF who underwent surgery with locking plate osteosynthesis were included.
Background: Elbow stiffness poses a significant challenge for surgeons as well as physiotherapists during and after surgery. To date, there is no consensus regarding the subsequent rehabilitation after surgical release of the stiff elbow.
Objective: The aim is to evaluate the most important therapeutic strategies following open or arthroscopic release of the stiff elbow based on a comprehensive literature review, and to develop a consensus for or against specific therapeutic methods with the help of a survey among elbow experts of the D-A-CH Association for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (DVSE).

Purpose: The hypothesis of this study was that acromioclavicular K-wire transfixation is noninferior to horizontal FiberTape cerclage in terms of vertical and horizontal stability in the short follow-up period of acute acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) dislocations fixed with an arthroscopically assisted coracoclavicular single bundle endobutton cerclage system. The secondary aim was to investigate the impact of postoperative recurrent instability on clinical outcomes in these populations.
Methods: In this consecutive clinical trial, all patients who underwent surgery for acute AC joint dislocation between January 2017 and December 2021 were included.
Introduction: Due to the increasing proportion of older people in the German population, the age group-specific burden of disease is also rising, which consequently leads to an escalating need for emergency medical care in the preclinical sector. Within the German health care system, the growing shortage of physicians and the associated deficit of emergency physicians are further aggravating factors, which can lead to relevant gaps in care.
Methods: Through a systematic literature search for the period from January 1, 2000 to March 1, 2023 on prehospital telemedical emergency services (tele-EMS), selected quantitative and qualitative characteristics according to the PICOS scheme and the PRISMA statement were made available as examples; these were then used to critically categorize the quality of telemedically supported emergency care in Germany.
Background: Plate osteosynthesis with implants made of carbon-fibre-reinforced polyetheretherketone (CFR-PEEK) has recently been introduced for the treatment of fractures of the proximal humerus (PHFs). The advantages of the CFR-PEEK plate are considered to be its radiolucency, its favourable modulus of elasticity, and the polyaxial placement of the screws with high variability of the angle. The primary aim of this study is to investigate the influence of calcar screw positioning on the complication and revision rates after CFR-PEEK plating of PHFs.
