Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy is commonly used as analytical improvement to conventional Raman spectroscopy, able to respond to qualitative diagnostic enquiries, which involve low-concentrated molecular species in complex matrix. In this paper, we described fabrication, characterization and testing of a type of SERS-active substrates realized specifically to detect pigments in work of art. In particular, we detailed the SERS activity of nanostructured noble metal films deposited by pulsed laser ablation onto glass and polishing sheets substrates.

Background And Objective: Krüppel-like factors (KLFs) are transcription factors with the ability to mediate cross-talk with signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation control, apoptosis, migration, and differentiation. They also appear to influence steroid hormone signaling through transcriptional networks involving steroid hormone receptors and members of the nuclear receptor family of transcription factors. Our study aims to evaluate the potential prognostic role of KLF5, KLF9, and KLF11 in endometrial cancer, and their correlation with hormonal receptor status and cellular proliferation.

The presence and frequency of lipoblasts (LPB) in spindle cell lipomas (SCL) and pleomorphic lipomas (PL) has never been studied in detail on a histologically, immunohistochemically and molecular genetically validated set of tumors. The authors investigated this feature by reviewing 91 cases of SCL and 38 PL. When more than 3 unequivocal LPB were found, the case was regarded as positive for the presence of LPB.

The effect of the last developmental phase of the warble fly (Hypoderma bovis de Greer) larvas was studied as exerted on some health indices of milk in 20 experimental (treated) and 18 control (untreated) first-calvers of the Pinzgau breed at two localities of an area affected by bovine hypodermosis in the period from May to June, 1975. The preparation Hypocid, at a dose of 15 ml per 100 kg of body weight, was applied externally in the lumbosacral region to the experimental animals in November, 1974. Throughout the experimental period (61 days) the milk was repeatedly examined bacteriologically and cytologically, the content of chlorides and the milk electric conductivity were determined.
