Recent studies have shown high early failure rates with Cup Cage constructs in complex revision surgery for Paprosky 3B acetabular defects. As a result, the use of 3D printed custom-made acetabular components has become more common. In this case series, we present two cases that demonstrate the latest advancement in 3D printed implants for severe acetabular bone loss.

Higher failure rates are associated with a number of factors including poly-microbial infections, multiresistant organisms and previous operations. The aims are to investigate [1] the overall success rate of a two-stage revision for infections in TKA, [2] the outcome of repeat two-stage revisions in recurrent infections and [3] the factors affecting the outcomes of such cases.

Oxinium™ (Smith & Nephew, Memphis, TN, US) has been used in hip arthroplasty since 2003. The surface coating is hard and provides low wear rates but if this surface coating is damaged, the soft metal core is at risk of accelerated wear. Previous reports have described accelerated wear following intra and postoperative hip dislocation.

This has been described in the literature as being due to the elastic modulus mismatch between the stem tip and the host bone. Current management is re-revision total knee arthroplasty in an attempt to alleviate the mismatch.
