The term acute aortic syndrome (AAS) refers to a range of different entities, including dissection, intramural haematoma and penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer. Patients with chronic renal disease and particularly those with dominant polycystic kidney disease are susceptible to this pathology, given the underlying renal arteriopathy and hypertension. Imaging plays a crucial role in diagnosing, grading and guiding management of these patients, with computed tomography angiography (CTA) being on the frontline.

Purpose Of Review: To critically summarize evidence on the potential role of osteokines in the pathogenesis and progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Recent Findings: There are emerging data supporting that certain osteokines, which are specific bone-derived proteins, may beneficially or adversely affect hepatic metabolism, and their alterations in the setting of osteoporosis or other bone metabolic diseases may possibly contribute to the development and progression of NAFLD. There is evidence showing a potential bidirectional association between NAFLD and bone metabolism, which may imply the existence of a liver-bone axis.

Purpose: To highlight the clinical and diagnostic importance of correctly identifying cervical internal carotid artery fenestration (fcICA), an extremely rare vascular anomaly, and to present a case where fcICA was initially misdiagnosed as a dissection in a patient with fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD).

Methods: A 47-year-old woman with pulsatile tinnitus underwent computed tomography angiography (CTA) and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) to differentiate between fenestration and dissection of the internal carotid artery.

Results: CTA revealed a fusiform dilatation of the distal C1 segment of the right internal carotid artery (ICA) with a linear filling defect, suggesting either fenestration or dissection.
