In a survey conducted in Belgium in 2019, chronic pain was named by patients as the main factor of complexity in their lives. Background: Appropriate prescription of Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) remains an important concern amid the rising overuse. A gap exists in the literature regarding the benefit of PPI prophylaxis and the consequences of underprescription in patients at risk for upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB).

Capsule endoscopy (CE) is a diagnostic tool mainly used to explore the small bowel (SB), whereas device-assisted enteroscopy (DAE) is preferred for therapeutics. We aimed to describe the procedure load of SB endoscopy in France from 2015 to 2021. Using the French national health data system and the French national hospital discharge database, we identified all SBCEs and DAEs reported between January 2015 and December 2021.

Transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) is a novel and evolving field dedicated to addressing the therapeutic challenges posed by patients at high surgical risk with mitral valve disease. TMVR can be categorized into two distinct fields based on the type of device and its specific indications: TMVR with transcatheter aortic valves (TAV) and TMVR with dedicated devices. Similar to aortic stenosis, TMVR with TAV requires a rigid support structure to secure the valve in place.
