Carbon dots (CDs), a novel class of carbon-based nanoparticles, have received a lot of interest recently due to their exceptional mechanical, chemical, and fluorescent properties, as well as their excellent photostability and biocompatibility. CDs' emission properties have already found a variety of potential applications, in which bioimaging and sensing are major highlights. It is widely acknowledged that CDs' fluorescence and surface conditions are closely linked.

In the present work, computational and experimental studies were carried out to explore the photophysical properties of bromonaphthofuran substituted 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives for optoelectronic applications. Density functional theory (DFT) was used to demonstrate the electronic and optical properties of the synthesised molecules. The theoretical ground state dipole moments of the fluorophores in gas and solvent environments were also computed using Gaussian 09W software.

The effect of an indigenous medical preparation--Brahma Rasayana (BR)--on the haemopoetic protection in cancer patients undergoing radio in association with chemotherapy was studied. Administration of BR accelerated the recovery of the haemopoetic system as seen by a rapid rise in total leukocytes. Both lymphocytes and neutrophils were significantly increased by Rasayana treatment.

Oral administration of septilin (100mg/animal/dose; five doses) was found to enhance natural killer cell mediated cytotoxicity and antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity in normal mice as well as tumour-bearing mice. Septilin treatment also activated the peritoneal macrophages which produced cytotoxicity to L929 cells. Septilin increased proliferation of bone-marrow cells and there was an increase in the number of alpha-naphthyl acetate esterase staining cells in the bone-marrow.
