The use of 3D-printed gene-activated bone grafts represents a highly promising approach in the fields of dentistry and orthopedics. Bioresorbable poly-lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) scaffolds, infused with adenoviral constructs that carry osteoinductive factor genes, may provide an effective alternative to existing bone grafts for the reconstruction of extensive bone defects. This study aims to develop and investigate the properties of 3D scaffolds composed of PLGA and adenoviral constructs carrying the BMP2 gene (Ad-BMP2), both in vitro and in vivo.

Fibrotic focus is a pivotal morphofunctional unit in developing fibrosis in various tissues. The first monomeric pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (PLP)-dependent transaminase from a marine, aromatic-compound-degrading, sulfate-reducing bacterium Tol2, has been studied using structural, kinetic, and spectral methods. The monomeric organization of the transaminase was confirmed by both gel filtration and crystallography. The PLP-dependent transaminase is of the fold type IV and deaminates D-alanine and ()-phenylethylamine in half-reactions.

Introduction: T-cadherin, a non-canonical member of the cadherin superfamily, was initially identified for its involvement in homophilic recognition within the nervous and vascular systems. Apart from its adhesive function, T-cadherin acts as a receptor for two ligands: LDL, contributing to atherogenic processes, and HMW adiponectin, a hormone with well-known cardiovascular protective properties. However, the precise role of T-cadherin in adipose tissue remains elusive.

Bacteria with the simplest system for solar energy absorption and conversion use various types of light-harvesting complexes for these purposes. Light-harvesting complex 2 (LH2), an important component of the bacterial photosynthetic apparatus, has been structurally well characterized among purple non-sulfur bacteria. In contrast, so far only one high-resolution LH2 structure from sulfur bacteria is known.
