Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of the symbiotic Linex used in the combination therapy of liver cirrhosis (LC).

Subjects And Methods: Seventy-four patients with LC, including 44 who received additionally the symbiotic Linex and 30 who had conventional therapy, were examined. All the patients underwent clinical and biochemical blood tests, abdominal ultrasonography, fecal test for bacteria, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry of the blood composition of microbial markers, number connecting test, and quality-of-life assessment (SF-36).

Aim: To assess sorption properties of Spherocelle beads consisting of particles of macroporous celiulose with various charges in relation to bacterial cells of manufacturing probiotic strains from different taxonomic groups.

Materials And Methods: The following manufacturing strains: Bifidobacterium bifidum 1, Lactobacillus plantarum 8PA-3 and Escherichia coli M-17, as well as 3 variants of Spherocelles' matrix: neutral, with positive and negative charges, were used.

Results: Spherocelle globules DEAE with a positive charge of the matrix were successively used for designing of immobilized probiotic preparations.

The influence of thymalin on the formation of specific allergy and the distribution of immunocompetent cells in the immunity organs of guinea pigs immunized with Haemophilus influenzae antigen was studied. The stimulating influence of thymalin on the allergization of the body, changes in the lymphocyte subpopulations, as well as the possibility of the development of allergic reactions to thymalin, were established. Multiple injections of thymalin produced a stronger stimulating effect on the formation of specific microbial allergy and on the content of T- and B-lymphocytes than a single injection of the preparation.
