Novel tetrahydropyran-triazole hybrids with antiproliferative activity against human tumor cells.

A series of new hybrid compounds was prepared combining tetrahydropyran rings with different aromatic systems by means of a 1,2,3-triazole, using a building block strategy. The design of these structures was guided by Lead-Likeness and Molecular Analysis (LLAMA) software, adding modifications to our most potent scaffold (the tetrahydropyran ring) to generate promising "lead-like" candidates, which were subsequently compared against reported anticancer compounds. Our synthesized compounds demonstrated significant antiproliferative activity when compared with the standards cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil, across a panel of six different tumor cell lines.

Emerging roles for tumor stroma in antigen presentation and anti-cancer immunity.

Advances in immunotherapy in the last decade have revolutionized treatment paradigms across multiple cancer diagnoses. However, only a minority of patients derive durable benefit and progress with traditional approaches, such as cancer vaccines, remains unsatisfactory. A key to overcoming these barriers resides with a deeper understanding of tumor antigen presentation and the complex and dynamic heterogeneity of tumor-infiltrating antigen-presenting cells (APCs).

Opportunities for psychologists to advance health equity: Using liberation psychology to identify key lessons from 17 years of praxis.

Health and health care inequities persist because the efforts to eliminate them have ignored structural racism, typically using a power neutral approach to diagnose and solve the problem. Critical theory can address many of the conceptual weaknesses of current approaches, help identify how racism operates in health care, and open the door for more effective individual employee and organizational actions to advance health equity. We apply Martín-Baró's (1996) liberation psychology to lessons we learned through implementing a transdisciplinary national health and health care equity program.

Healthy Here: A Promising Referral System Model for Community-Clinical Linkages to Prevent Chronic Disease.

Linking clinical services to community-based resources is a promising strategy for assisting patients with chronic disease prevention and management. However, there remains a gap in understanding how to effectively develop and implement community-clinical linkages (CCLs), especially in communities of color. The Healthy Here initiative used Stage Theory of organizational change to implement a centralized wellness referral system, linking primary care clinics to community organizations in majority Hispanic/Latinx and Native American communities.
