Food bioactive peptides: functionality beyond bitterness.

Bitter taste is an aversive taste because it is unconsciously associated with toxic compounds. However, a considerable variability in bitter sensitivity exists in those who have the genetic polymorphism for bitter taste receptors (TAS2Rs). Besides the oral cavity, TAS2Rs are present in many body tissues, including the gastrointestinal tract; therefore, they are crucial players both in the gustatory/hedonic system and in the homeostatic system, triggering numerous biological responses, including adipogenesis, carcinogenesis, or immunity.

Magnetic Breakdown and Topology in the Kagome Superconductor CsV_{3}Sb_{5} under High Magnetic Field.

The recently discovered layered kagome metals of composition AV_{3}Sb_{5} (A=K, Rb, Cs) exhibit a complex interplay among superconductivity, charge density wave order, topologically nontrivial electronic band structure and geometrical frustration. Here, we probe the electronic band structure underlying these exotic correlated electronic states in CsV_{3}Sb_{5} with quantum oscillation measurements in pulsed fields up to 86 T. The high-field data reveal a sequence of magnetic breakdown orbits that allows the construction of a model for the folded Fermi surface of CsV_{3}Sb_{5}.

Magnetotransport signatures of antiferromagnetism coexisting with charge order in the trilayer cuprate HgBaCaCuO.

Multilayered cuprates possess not only the highest superconducting temperature transition but also offer a unique platform to study disorder-free CuO planes and the interplay between competing orders with superconductivity. Here, we study the underdoped trilayer cuprate HgBaCaCuO and we report quantum oscillation and Hall effect measurements in magnetic field up to 88 T. A careful analysis of the complex spectra of quantum oscillations strongly supports the coexistence of an antiferromagnetic order in the inner plane and a charge order in the outer planes.
