Psychopathology among a sample of hearing impaired adolescents.

Hearing impairment is a recognized cause of emotional and psychological disturbances worldwide, however little is known about this condition in Nigeria. The aim of this study is to compare the prevalence of psychopathology between hearing impaired adolescents and healthy adolescents. Students attending two special schools for the hearing impaired were assessed for psychopathology with the help of a trained signer and their teacher, using the International Classification of Diseases Diagnostic Criteria (ICD 10).

Burkitt's lymphoma of the head and neck region in a Nigerian tertiary hospital.

Background: Burkitt's lymphoma is endemic in Nigeria; it forms about 39% of all childhood cancers. In recent times more of these cases are being seen presenting first to the Ear Nose and Throat clinic.

Objective: This study is designed to look at the pattern of presentation of head and Neck Burkitt's lymphoma at a Nigerian Tertiary hospital and to evaluate current treatment modality.

Background: In Nigeria record of incidence and pattern of Head and Neck malignancies is scanty. In our Hospital, there had been no prior published report on this subject.

Background: Tracheostomy continues to be a standard surgical procedure for airway management.

Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the indications, and complications associated with the utilization of open surgical tracheostomy in our center.

Design And Setting: It is a retrospective study of all patients that had open surgical tracheostomy at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife.
