Article Synopsis
  • Proteins NSL1 and CAD1 are associated with plant immunity against pathogens like DC3000.
  • A yeast 2-hybrid experiment was conducted to investigate possible interactions between these proteins and DC3000 effectors.
  • Results indicated that NSL1 interacts with the effector HopM1, suggesting it may serve as a target for this pathogen, while CAD1 did not show this interaction.

Article Synopsis
  • 14-3-3 proteins are special proteins found in plant cells that help control many important processes.
  • They play a big role in how plants respond to stress and fight off diseases.
  • Learning more about these proteins can help scientists make crops stronger and better at defending themselves.

Background: Leaf-associated microbes play an important role in plant development and response to exogenous stress. Insect herbivores are known to alter the phyllosphere microbiome. However, whether the host plant's defense against insects is related to the phyllosphere microbiome remains mostly elusive.

Plants have benefited from interactions with symbionts for coping with challenging environments since the colonisation of land. The mechanisms of symbiont-mediated beneficial effects and similarities and differences to pathogen strategies are mostly unknown. Here, we use 106 (effector-) proteins, secreted by the symbiont Serendipita indica (Si) to modulate host physiology, to map interactions with Arabidopsis thaliana host proteins.
