Program Evaluation of the Inner South Community Health Oral Health Program for Priority Populations.

Background: This study evaluated an Oral Health Program for Priority Populations (OHPPP) in the Inner South of Melbourne, Victoria.

Methods: Social Ecological Theory and the Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, and Maintenance (RE-AIM) framework informed the study. It involved administering satisfaction questionnaires to 29 clients and conducting eight in-depth interviews and four focus group discussions with either clients, health care workers or partner agencies.

Dietary intake of calcium, vitamins A and E and bleeding on probing in Sri Lankan preschoolers.

Objective: To determine the prevalence of gingival bleeding on probing and the associations between dietary intake of calcium, vitamins A and E and gingival bleeding on probing in Sri Lankan preschool children.

Participants: 784 children aged 48-72 months attending preschools in the Kegalle district and their mothers/carers.

Introduction: The distribution and severity of dental caries among preschool children vary according to the socio-economic and ethnic differences within and between countries. Understanding socio-economic influences on child oral health could inform early interventions to reduce the oral health burden throughout the life-cycle. The aim of this study is to examine the socio-economic and ethnic influences on oral health among preschoolers in Kegalle, Sri Lanka.

Managing aggression and violence: the clinician's role in contemporary mental health care.

Objective: From time to time misconceptions about violence risk assessment raise debate about the role mental health professionals play in managing aggression, with associated concerns about the utility of violence risk assessment. This paper will address some of the misconceptions about risk assessment in those with serious mental illness.

Methods: The authors have expertise as clinicians and researchers in the field and based on their accumulated knowledge and discussion they have reviewed the literature to form their opinions.

Use of traditional medicine for oral conditions in rural Sri Lanka.

Setting: A rural agricultural area in Sri Lanka.

Participants: 603 adults aged 45 years and above.
