The article presents theses of the resolution of the Interdisciplinary Council of Experts in Psychiatry and Neurology (Moscow, 2024) on the issue of comorbid anxiety disorders (AD) in patients with neurological pathologies. The authors highlight the high prevalence of comorbid ADs and their significant negative impact on the course of underlying diseases, such as epilepsy, pain syndromes and post-stroke conditions. Modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of ADs in this group of patients are discussed.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated the effectiveness, safety, and tolerance of a combination medication (Mioreol) containing donepezil and memantine for Alzheimer's disease patients.
  • 497 patients, averaging 75.4 years old and suffering from moderate to severe dementia, were treated for 3 months, with their cognitive and emotional functions measured using various assessments.
  • Results showed significant cognitive and emotional improvements, confirming Mioreol's efficacy and safety for this patient population.

The Luttinger model is a paradigm for the breakdown due to interactions of the Fermi liquid description of one-dimensional massless Dirac fermions. Attempts to discretize the model on a one-dimensional lattice have failed to reproduce the established bosonization results because of the fermion-doubling obstruction: a local and symmetry-preserving discretization of the Hamiltonian introduces a spurious second species of low-energy excitations, while a nonlocal discretization opens a single-particle gap at the Dirac point. Here, we show how to work around this obstruction by discretizing both space and time to obtain a local Lagrangian for a helical Luttinger liquid with Hubbard interaction.

Background: Botulinum toxin A (BTA) injections are effective for facial neuropathy. However, there is insufficient number of studies devoted to long-term management of these patients.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of BTA therapy in patients with facial neuropathy after neurosurgical interventions.

Developmental noise is considered as a permissible level of entropy, as a compromise between the cost and needed precision of the realization of genetic information. In terms of entropy, noise is a measure of acceptable level of disorder to ensure a reliable system operation. Developmental noise plays a role in the observed phenotypic diversity and is associated with other indicators of the biological system condition.
