Ultrasound scanning of main vessels (common carotid, internal carotid, common and superficial femoral, posterior tibial arteries) in staffers of shipyard "Nerpa"--branch of JSC "Shipbuilding center Zvezdochka" (Snezhnogorsk city Murmansk region)--engaged into atomic submarines utilization. Findings are atherosclerotic changes in common carotid and common femoral arteries--increased thickness of intima-media complex over the reference values or atherosclerotic plaque formation. The changes were maximal in a group of males aged over 50 with length of service over 25 years.

For last few years in Russia and in the Armed Forces of RF is marked a growth of number of acute intoxications by GABA-agonists and by muscle relaxants, particularly by baclofen. Manifestations of intoxication by this specimen include cerebral and somatic-vegetal disorders, in grave cases of illness could evolve psychic excitement, delusions and coma. Treatment of baclofen intoxication compares of gastric lavage using a thick pathfinder, accompanied by insertion of adsorbent and apocathartic means, maintaining of impaired vital functions of body.

Regulation of lipid peroxidation is realized not only by antioxidant enzymes but by natural antioxidants as well. We have lately succeeded, together with the students, in identifying antioxidant properties of quaternary ammonium compounds, which fact makes it possible for the above properties to gain extensive applicability in a setting where there is this variety of disbolism. One of such drug preparations is ethonium.

An original methodological approach to the diagnosis of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection is proposed, consisting in the detection of viral DNA in peripheral blood lymphocytes using in situ DNA hybridization. EBV DNA was found in 6 (50%) patients with lymphomas and in 1 (33%) with infective endocarditis out of 26 examined recipients of blood components. No EBV DNA was found in peripheral blood lymphocytes of 14 regular donors.
