In order to evaluate the role of substituents at 3-C and 17-C in the cytotoxic and cytoprotective actions of DHEA and 5-AED molecules, their derivatives were synthesized by esterification using the corresponding acid anhydrides or acid chlorides. As a result, seven compounds were obtained: four DHEA derivatives (DHEA 3-propionate, DHEA 3-butanoate, DHEA 3-acetate, DHEA 3-methylsulfonate) and three 5-AED derivatives (5-AED 3-butanoate, 5-AED 3,17-dipropionate, 5-AED 3,17-dibutanoate). All of these compounds showed micromolar cytotoxic activity toward HeLa and K562 human cancer cells.

The subject of the current research study is aimed at the development of novel types of contrast agents (CAs) for multi-energy computed tomography (CT) based on Ln-graphene composites, which include Ln (Ln = La, Nd, and Gd) nanoparticles with a size of 2-3 nm, acting as key contrasting elements, and graphene nanoflakes (GNFs) acting as the matrix. The synthesis and surface modifications of the GNFs and the properties of the new CAs are presented herein. The samples have had their characteristics determined using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-Ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and Raman spectroscopy.

Objective: To assess the significance of melatonin, NT-proBNP and morphological markers of myocardial remodeling for predicting the risk of complications after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in patients with ischemic heart disease and chronic heart failure (CHF).

Materials And Methods: We included in this study 83 patients who underwent CABG in the period from September 2013 to October 2014. All patients before CABG underwent standard laboratory and instrumental examination.

The influence of (1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)-1,2,5-oxadiazole derivatives: 4-amino-3-(5-methyl-4- ethoxycarbonyl-(1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)-1,2,5-oxadiazole (TF4CH3) and 4,4'-bis(5-methel-4-ethoxycarbonyl-1H- 1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)-3,3'-azo-1,2,5-oxadiazole (2TF4CH3) on stimulation of human platelet soluble guanylate cyclase by YC-1, NO-donors (sodium nitroprusside, SNP, and spermine NONO) and on a synergistic increase of NO-dependent enzyme activation in the presence of YC-1 has been investigated. Both compounds increased guanylate cyclase activation by YC-1, potentiated guanylate cyclase stimulation by NO-donors and increased the synergistic effect of YC-1 on NO-dependent activation of soluble guanylate cyclase. The similarity in the properties of the examined TF4CH3 and 2TF4CH3 with that of YC-1 and the possible mechanism underlying the revealed properties of compounds used are discussed.

The paper presents data on the formation of spatial synchronization of brain potentials in 91 children aged 7-18 years living in European North of Russia. We estimated coherence values for 19 derivations (pair 171) in five EEG frequency bands (delta, theta, alpha-1, alpha-2 and beta). We described age-related changes, gender differences and topical specific features of the formation of coherence in the left and right hemispheres, and in inter- and intrahemispheric synchronization.
