[The prevention and treatment of suppurative-septic complications in patients with acute appendicitis].

In the experiment on mongrel dogs, the absorption of indigo carmine dye after its retroperitoneal administration with 10% dimexide solution into the lymphatic and venous systems was studied. More rapid delivery of a dye into the portal system, including the cases with portal hypertension, and into the lymphatic system was established. A method for retroperitoneal administration of antibiotics with 10% dimexide solution for prevention and treatment of purulent-septic complications in patients with acute appendicitis has been developed.

[Treatment of different variants of the mixed form of portal hypertension].

Among 425 patients who were under observation for portal hypertension 72 (16.9%) had its mixed form. Thrombosis of the portal vein in liver cirrhosis occurred in 6 patients.

[Surgical treatment of pancreatic cancer and major papilla of the duodenum].

Based on their experience with treatment of 70 patients with carcinoma of the pancreas the authors substantiate expedience of using their original methods of pancreatodigestive and biliodigestive anastomoses during pancreatoduodenal resections. Indications to using the methods of surgical correction in different categories of patients are described.

[Use of Nichrome suture material].

The suture material and the method of its application play an important role in the prevention of wound complications. With the use of Nichrome wire thread as the suture material in surgical interventions, the number of postoperative complications significantly was decreased. The Nichrome thread is also used expediently in operative interventions on patients with purulent diseases of the soft tissues, including cases after primary surgical treatment of purulent foci by carbon dioxide laser.
