[Adaptation of elderly Petersburgers to the situation of the coronavirus pandemic.].

The elderly's adaptation to the situation of coronavirus pandemic is described in the paper from the standpoint of a holistic approach. This includes the interaction between the elderly person, the social environment in which he/she is included in one form or another, and the regulators of this interaction. The purpose of the research was to identify the degree of main actors' readiness to achieve the required balance of an elderly person's interests in self-preservation and the requirements of the coronavirus environment In Saint-Petersburg.

[The elderly as witnesses of three epochs: from socialism to the market.].

The article examines the specificity of the elderly social memory as witnesses of three epoch. Modern elderly have a unique experience that allows them to look at the social and economic situation in the country from the perspective of the past epochs of the soviet time, perestroika and market period. The research was carried out with the help of biographical method based on in-depth semi-structured interviewing.

[Archaic stereotypies and modern approaches for understanding of ageing].

In the article we discussed the processes of awareness of the place of elderly people in modern society, elaboration of adequate relation to global aging and elderly themselves are still going in social sciences. These processes are expressed in a clash of archaic stereotypes and new approaches which changed social and age structure requires. Not only elderly people are providers of archaic stereotypes, but scientific institutions and practices as well.

[Elderly and state: specificity of relationships in contemporary Russia on the example of elderly residents of Saint-Petersburg.].

The article presents the sociological research results of paternalistic attitudes that determine relationships between the state and the elderly in the context of new socio-economic conditions. It was revealed that the previous paternalistic expectations of the elderly are stable and manifested more in the older age group (71-90 years old). The younger age group of the elderly (55-70 years old) begins to distance themselves from the guardianship of the state and relies more on their own resources under new circumstances.
