Accumulation of SR by Betula pendula within the East Ural Radioactive Trace zone.

This study was conducted in 2010-2020 at the head of the East Ural Radioactive Trace (EURT), which was formed in 1957 as a result of the Kyshtym accident at the Mayak Production Association. The main contaminant in this zone is the long-lived radionuclide Strontium-90 (90Sr). Secondary forests dominated by silver birch (Betula pendula) occupy 45% of the EURT area.

Caring for the sick in a medieval rural community: A study based on paleopathological and archaeological data from Medieval Rus'.

Objective: This research seeks to identify the way the sick were treated in the 14th-15th centuries АD in a rural community located close to the medieval urban centre of Suzdal in central medieval Russia MATERIALS: Skeletons of 26 humans were examined from the cemetery associated with the rural settlement of Mikhali 3/Mininskoe (central Russia) (14th-15th centuries A.D.) METHODS: Archaeological study, paleodemographic analysis, description of physiological stress markers, stature reconstruction, X-ray, 3D scan.

Clinical characteristics of COVID-19 in patients with tuberculosis and factors associated with the disease severity.

Background: Data on patients with COVID-19 who have pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) are limited. In this study, we compared the clinical characteristics of patients with COVID-19/TB and patients with COVID-19 only. In addition, we analyzed the links between the severity of COVID-19 disease and the clinical characteristics of patients with COVID-19/TB.

[The role of neovascularization in the formation of an unstable human atherosclerotic plaque].

Material And Methods: The study material was 20 autopsy samples obtained from males aged 65 to 72 years who died from acute atherosclerotic cardiovascular insufficiency. Aortic segments (from the arch, thoracic and abdominal regions), coronary arteries and the arteries of the base of the brain () were investigated; these totaled 45 tissue segments. Neovessels and cellular responses in the arterial wall were examined by hematoxylin and eosin staining.

Aim To evaluate changes in left ventricular (LV) systolic function by LV myocardial global longitudinal strain (GLS) and global strain rate (GSR) in patients with arterial hypertension (AH) and based on the effectiveness of blood pressure (BP) control in a Russian population sample of individuals older than 55 years.Materials and methods This cross-sectional study was a population-based cohort study (HAPIEE, Novosibirsk). LV myocardial GLS and GSR were studied by echocardiography in a random sample (n=1004, 55-84 years).
