Fatty Acid Composition and Contents of Fish of Genus from Natural Ecosystems and Aquaculture.

Fatty acids (FA) of muscle tissue of species and its forms, , , , and , from six Russian lakes and two aquacultures, were analyzed. Considerable variations in FA compositions and contents were found, including contents of eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids (EPA and DHA), which are important indicators of fish nutritive value for humans. As found, contents of EPA+DHA (mg·g wet weight) in muscle tissue of species and forms varied more than tenfold.

The Center of Origin and Colonization Routes of Noble Salmons of the Genus Salmo (Salmonidae, Actinopterigii).

Genetic diversity and colonization routes of noble salmons were studied using a partial nucleotide sequence of the mitochondrial COI gene. The brown trout S. trutta, which is the most ancient species of the genus, was concluded to originate from the modern southeastern Pontic-Caspian area, which is currently inhabited by members of the subspecies S.

[Means of improving the organization of surgical care of lung cancer patients].

The paper discusses improvement in diagnosis and surgical treatment of lung cancer starting from detection of alterations in the lungs to establishing indications for surgery. A complex of diagnostic and therapeutic measures aimed at improving the results of surgical treatment of the disease is suggested.

[Evaluation of the effectiveness of prophylactic examination for the early detection of breast cancer].

The report deals with an experience in taking a complex of measures aimed at early diagnosis of breast cancer. The study group included 5,000 healthy females examined at a large out-patient hospital. A group at risk was found to amount to 12%.

[Organization of the health care of patients with breast cancer].

The paper discusses the 5-year experience of operation of cancer control service provided at a hospital department with a capacity of 50 beds as well as the results of two out-patient mammological screenings conducted by the Dispensary staff. Coordination of this work yielded a unified approach to the diagnosis and treatment of precancer and cancer of the breast. It also ensured continuity in application of procedures of therapy and prophylactic medical examination in the entire cancer control service of the Region.
