Background And Purpose: Endocannabinoids are lipid mediators, which elicit complex biological effects that extend beyond the central nervous system. Tissue concentrations of endocannabinoids increase in atherosclerosis, and for the endocannabinoid N-arachidonoyl-ethanolamine (anandamide, AEA), this has been linked to an anti-inflammatory function. In this study, we set out to determine the anti-inflammatory mechanism of action of AEA, specifically focusing on vascular smooth muscle cells.

Article Synopsis
  • Doctors are unsure about the best time to start treatment for patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) after they start getting worse again.
  • A study looked at two groups, one that started treatment early (when the disease started to show signs) and the other that waited until symptoms got worse.
  • The group that waited showed better treatment results, lasting longer without the disease getting worse compared to the group that started treatment early.

We report the chemical composition of the crude leaf extracts obtained from (Cham.) Miers (Bignoniaceae), a simple high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) method based on mangiferin as an internal standard to quantify verbascoside, and the verbascoside acute oral toxicity and antileishmanial activity. HPLC-high-resolution mass spectrometry-DAD (HPLC-HRMS-DAD) analyses of the crude ethanol leaf extracts (CE-1 and CE-2) revealed that verbascoside was the major constituent in both extracts.
