Background: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a pathophysiological problem that may involve several clinical symptoms and be linked to various respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses. Its diagnosis is made invasively by Right Cardiac Catheterization (RHC), which is difficult to perform routinely. Aim of the current study was to develop a Machine Learning (ML) algorithm based on the analysis of anamnestic data to predict the presence of an invasively measured PH.

Leishmaniasis is recognized as a serious public health problem in Brazil and around the world. The limited availability of drugs for treatment, added to the diversity of side effects and the emergence of resistant strains, shows the importance of research focused on the development of new molecules, thus contributing to treatments. Therefore, this work aimed to identify leishmanicidal compounds using a peptide dimerization strategy, as well as to understand their mechanisms of action.

Metabolic-Associated Fatty Liver Disease (MAFLD) is a clinical-pathological scenario that occurs due to the accumulation of triglycerides in hepatocytes which is considered a significant cause of liver conditions and contributes to an increased risk of death worldwide. Even though the possible causes of MAFLD can involve the interaction of genetics, hormones, and nutrition, lifestyle (diet and sedentary lifestyle) is the most influential factor in developing this condition. Polyphenols comprise many natural chemical compounds that can be helpful in managing metabolic diseases.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigated how heart failure (HF) and atrial fibrillation (AF) occur together, focusing on their prevalence, incidence, and treatment strategies in patients with different ejection fraction levels.
  • - Analyzed data from over 195,000 patients showed an increase in AF prevalence for both HF and non-HF patients from 2006 to 2021, with HF patients, especially those with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), receiving more AF treatments.
  • - Despite higher rates of AF in HF patients, particularly those with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), the overall treatment for AF in HF patients is still considered low, suggesting a need for improved management strategies.
