The Role of Group and Save Testing Prior to Emergency Laparoscopic Appendicectomy.

The routine use of preoperative group and save (G&S) blood tests in emergency laparoscopic appendicectomies has been a standard yet often unquestioned practice. However, with the advancements in laparoscopic techniques and the low risk of intraoperative bleeding, is this precaution necessary? Analysing 276 emergency appendicectomy cases over a year, our study revealed that no transfusions were required due to surgical complications. Nevertheless, routine G&S testing causes considerable financial and resource strains, consuming valuable time and delaying treatment.

Palladium-Catalyzed Intramolecular C-H Amination via Oxidative Coupling on Indole Derivatives: Access to 11-Benzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-]indoles.

A novel palladium-catalyzed intramolecular C-H amination via oxidative coupling exploiting inactivated N-substituted aryl amines on indoles for the one-pot synthesis of novel 11-benzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-]indole derivatives is reported. The optimized reaction conditions accommodated a wide range of electronic variations on both the indole and the pendant aryl amine ring, resulting in products with good to excellent yields.

A Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of Gonadotropins Used for Ovarian Stimulation during Assisted Reproductive Technology Based on Data from the French Nationwide Claims Database (SNDS).

Objective: Various gonadotropins are used for ovarian stimulation (OS). This study investigated the cost-effectiveness of different gonadotropins based on real-world data from the French National Health Database (SNDS) over a 7-year follow-up of assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatments.

Design: Cost-effectiveness analysis of different gonadotropins based on real-world data from the SNDS was conducted.

Safety and immunogenicity of a pentavalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine versus a quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine in adults in India: an observer-blind, randomised, active-controlled, phase 2/3 study.

Background: Meningococcal disease remains an important public health problem globally. We assessed the non-inferiority and the lot-to-lot consistency of a pentavalent meningococcal ACYWX conjugate vaccine (NmCV-5; Serum Institute of India, Pune, India) versus a quadrivalent meningococcal ACWY conjugate vaccine (MenACWY-D) in healthy adults.

Methods: In this observer-blind, randomised, active-controlled, phase 2/3 study, healthy adults aged 18-85 years were recruited from nine hospitals across seven cities in India.
