Unlabelled: first appeared in the United States in 2013 in New York-New Jersey (NY-NJ) and led to an unprecedented outbreak since 2016. We hypothesized ' introduction to NY-NJ was not a random event but related to travel patterns between South Asia and NY-NJ. New York City is a US hub for international passengers, including those from South Asia.

Here, we report a general phenomenon on the ensemble spectral stability of traditional phenoxazine class of dyes (nile red, cresyl violet, and nile blue) that exhibit hours-long microstructural transitions reflected through systematic changes of electronic spectra over an hour. Mechanistic investigations reveal that such spectral dynamics of the dyes can be mitigated by tuning microenvironments, where microsolvation plays an underlying role.

Combination antifungal therapy (CAF) may improve patient outcomes by reducing development of resistance, improving drug penetration and rate of fungal clearance, and allowing for lower and less toxic antifungal drug doses; yet, increased cost, antagonism, drug-drug interactions, and toxicity are concerns. Clinical practice guidelines recommend antifungal monotherapy, rather than CAF, for most invasive fungal diseases due to a lack of comparative randomized clinical trials.

The global epidemic of drug-resistant continues unabated. The initial report on pan-drug resistant (PDR) strains in a hospitalized patient in New York was unprecedented. PDR showed both known and unique mutations in the prominent gene targets of azoles, amphotericin B, echinocandins, and flucytosine.
