Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is an incurable neurodegenerative disease characterized by 4-repeat (0N/4R)-Tau protein accumulation in CNS neurons. We generated transgenic zebrafish expressing human 0N/4R-Tau to investigate PSP pathophysiology. Tau zebrafish replicated multiple features of PSP, including: decreased survival; hypokinesia; impaired optokinetic responses; neurodegeneration; neuroinflammation; synapse loss; and Tau hyperphosphorylation, misfolding, mislocalization, insolubility, truncation, and oligomerization.

We introduce Catalyst.jl, a flexible and feature-filled Julia library for modeling and high-performance simulation of chemical reaction networks (CRNs). Catalyst supports simulating stochastic chemical kinetics (jump process), chemical Langevin equation (stochastic differential equation), and reaction rate equation (ordinary differential equation) representations for CRNs.

Central nervous system tumors related to gliomas are of neuroectodermal origin and cover about 30% of all primary brain tumors. Glioma is not susceptible to any therapy and surgical attack remains one of the main approaches to its treatment. Preoperative tumor imaging methods, such as positron emission tomography (PET), are currently used to distinguish malignant tissue to increase the accuracy of glioma removal.

Human spinal cord injury (SCI) is characterized by permanent loss of damaged axons, resulting in chronic disability. In contrast, zebrafish can regenerate axonal projections following central nervous system injury and re-establish synaptic contacts with distant targets; elucidation of the underlying molecular events is an important goal with translational potential for improving outcomes in SCI patients. We generated transgenic zebrafish with GFP-labeled axons and transected their spinal cords at 10 days post-fertilization.

Kerker effect is one of the unique phenomena in modern electrodynamics. Due to overlapping of electric and magnetic dipole moments, all-dielectric particles can be invisible in forward or backward directions. In our paper we propose new conditions between resonantly excited electric dipole and magnetic quadrupole in ceramic high index spheroidal particles for demonstrating transverse Kerker effect.
