Recently, it was shown that the nanocrystallization of Bi2O3 glasses with the addition of SiO2 and Al2O3 leads to the stabilization of the δ-like Bi2O3 phase at least down to room temperature, which is significantly below its stability range in bulk form. In this research, we investigated the properties of bismuthate glasses synthesized with various glass-forming agents such as SiO2, GeO2, B2O3, and Al2O3. It was demonstrated that vitrification of all these systems is possible using a standard melt quenching route.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers developed a new method to create two-dimensional VCT MXenes from the VAlC MAX phase, utilizing a combination of combustion synthesis and hydrothermal processing with HCl/LiF.
  • The resulting VCT MXene was characterized using various techniques, and then mixed into a poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) matrix to form nanocomposites with varying VCT content (2.5 to 20 wt%).
  • The study found that adding 20 wt% VCT MXene significantly boosted the permittivity of the nanocomposite to 425.3, and the dielectric properties were primarily influenced by the PVDF matrix, with the VCT filler enhancing interfacial polarization as temperature and

20-Hydroxyecdysone (20E) plays a vital role in a series of biological processes, via the nuclear receptors, EcR/USP by activating the ecdysone regulatory cascade. To clarify the role of EcR during the development of Grapholita molesta, the complementary DNA of ecdysone receptor isoform B1 (GmEcR-B1) was obtained from the transcriptome of G. molesta and verified by PCR.

Hard X-ray absorption spectroscopy is a valuable in situ probe for non-destructive diagnostics of metal sites. The low-energy interval of a spectrum (XANES) contains information about the metal oxidation state, ligand type, symmetry and distances in the first coordination shell but shows almost no dependency on the bridged metal-metal bond length. The higher-energy interval (EXAFS), on the contrary, is more sensitive to the coordination numbers and can decouple the contribution from distances in different coordination shells.

Although it is well established that positive reappraisal-changing the way one thinks about an emotional event to feel more positive about it-is an effective emotion regulation strategy, researchers have only recently begun to characterize the relative utility and effectiveness of different forms of positive reappraisal. We propose that temporal orientation-thinking about the past versus the future-may be one particularly useful characterization of positive reappraisal. In three studies, participants were instructed to use positive reappraisal to feel better about a stressor and we either measured (Studies 1 and 3) or manipulated (Study 2) the orientation of those reappraisals to the future or to the past.
