The metabolism of a continuous Ae. albopictus cell line (clone C6/36) was studied relative to the consumption of an environmental component by mammalian cells of the continuous lines Vero(B) and BNK-21 under steady-state cultivation conditions. The Ae.

The role of the observed phenomenon in the objective evaluation of the effect of the antiviral drugs in vitro is discussed.

Significant differences between the values of cytotoxicity were found with ribamide in cell lines of different origins. The differences in the measured values of cytotoxicity of the four antiviral compounds under study were demonstrated using the proposed proliferation cytotoxicity criterion (PCT).
