The nutrition, particularly provision of antisclerotic and antioxidant nutrients, has been studied for population of radiation-controlled territories, personnel of nuclear power stations, radiation-exposed inpatients. Nutritional deficiency was stated in relation to vitamins A, C, E B-carotine, sulfur-containing amino acids. Imbalance was found in fat and carbohydrate rations.

Effect of natural and enriched with pectin tanned fruits on radiation-induced metabolic disorders was studied in persons subjected to radiation due to Chernobyl accident. It was shown that products in question beneficially influenced blood antioxidant system as well as brought to the norm contents of triglicerides and albumins in patients with IIa and IV types of hyperlipoproteinaemia.

Some indices of free radical processes and antioxidant blood protection systems were investigated in a group of persons exposed to ionizing radiation at the Chernobyl accident. Lipid peroxidation was shown to undergo changes against a background of decreased antiperoxide protection of erythrocytes 22-24 mos. after exposure in patients after acute radiation sickness, I degree.

In a group of similar subjects correlation has been revealed between the level of protein intake and nitrogen indices of urine assayed in the portion of urine taken on an empty stomach. The nitrogen indices of urine: creatinine N/total N, creatinine N/urea N, creatinine N/amine N, urea N/total N proved to be the most informative criteria of protein nutrition. It was found that the indices studied could be used as signs of providing the group of subjects with protein and for prognosing the protein nutrition level by the simulation of linear regression, using the methods of the random process theory.
